Get GPS Fleet Tracking And Help (science) Your Small Business

By Joe Mueller

Have you ever thought about ways to improve the efficiency of you small business’ fleet? If you have then you should really give GPS fleet tracking a consideration. According to a March 2008 study made by the Aberdeen group small fleets were able to quickly and successfuly employ fleet management solutions that involved GPS technology.

In the report the researches divided fleet sizes into categories based on the size ranges of the fleets. Small fleets had 1 to 10 vehicles, a medium small fleet had 11 to 50, a medium fleet had anywhere from 51 to 250, a medium large had 251 to 1000, and a large fleet was considered on that had in excess of 1000 vehicles.

In addition to the different fleet size the report also tried to measure the different reasons that companies desired to employ GPS fleet tracking. The top reason mentioned by small fleets was a desire to create positive customer interactions. This response was listed by a commanding majority of the studies respondents (73%).

The different business see customer satisfaction as a key factor for their business. They wanted to generate repeat customers as well as create word-of-mouth marketing through the experience that they give their customers, whether it be an ahead of schedule delivery or an on-time service representative.

But this was by no means the only reason business wanted to find a fleet managmenet solution. These other reasons include a desire to improve response times for service or delivery calls (57%), mitigate the rising costs of fuel and other fleet maintenance related expenses (46%), increase overall productivty of workers (41%), and to improve the longevity of vehicles by reducing overall wear-and-tear on the fleet (16%).

The Aberdeen report had many interesting findings, but the one particularly interesting to small fleets (1-10 vehicles) was that fleets of this size have a better success rate with implementing GPS technology and seeing rapid benefits than large fleets (1000+ vehicles). The report states that small fleets were able to realize and increase of 25% in the amount of work orders that can be completed. The math is simple - more work orders = more revenue generated by your fleet. Who doesn’t want their fleet to make more money?

Most fleets saw these types of results two years after implementation. To give a point of reference, large fleets only saw an increase in efficiency of 8%.

Small fleets also saw a significant increase in the abilities of technicians to arrive to their destinations on time. They saw this increase by 46% over a two year period. You can imagine how this might have impacted the satisfaction of the customers serviced.

When it boils down to it though, only you can really decide what will be best for you company’s fleet. However, it is very likely that some form of GPS technology, whether it be simple navigation devices or the more complex fleet tracking systems, will benefit your company in a significant way. The benefits of more revenue, increased customer satifaction, and better fleet maintance could translat into a better bottom line for you business.

Fight Terrorists with Water
By Paul Fitzgerald

Sounds like a silly game, doesn’t it? Like something children might play with squirt guns or balloons full of water. Actually, it’s quite serious business. It’s no secret that there are all manner of terrorist groups that want to destroy those of us in the West.

We are the enemy; we follow the wrong religion, we allow our women to flaunt their bodies in public, and so on. They have any number of reasons for hating us. The point is, they want to kill us, and right now they have the money and resources to attack.

There are violent people all over the world; all kinds of separatist groups that are fighting for one cause or another. We don’t hear about a lot of them because they don’t have the money to make a big bang literally. Well, it’s also no secret as to why terrorists based in the Middle East do have the money we’re giving it to them! Quite the bit of irony in that, don’t you think? We’re literally arming the people who want to kill us. That’s a bit like the Allies giving bombs to the Nazis.

Yet, what can we do about it? After all, our cars, our industries run on the stuff they have. Without that Black Gold our society would collapse. So, it’s for good reason that we’re looking to develop alternative energy sources. Wind power, solar energy, nuclear, geothermal, and others hold great promise for tomorrow. Yet, there’s the problem tomorrow. What about today; isn’t there something we can do today to help ease our dependence on foreign oil?

Actually, there is; and is goes back to that opening statement: fight terror with water. It’s not a facetious phrase; the technology exists today that lets you run your car on a mix of water of gasoline. In so doing, you’ll reduce the gas you need by fifty percent! Think about that, filling up at the pump half as many times a year as you are now. You’ll effectively cut your gas bill in half. When you consider what you’re paying at the pump now, that’s a considerable sum. And remember, every dollar you keep is one less going to people determined to kill you.

You might think that your one act isn’t going to change things. True, but once enough people do the same, that little trickle of water can turn into a mighty river. And then the mighty river of dollars going overseas will be reduced to a trickle. Let those who hate us rant and carry on; just so long as they do so without our money.

Did you know that you can convert your car to a water-burning car? You can run your car on water, supplemental to gasoline, to increase your car’s fuel efficiency and reduce your fuel costs significantly. Works on gas or diesel powered cars, vans, trucks, and SUVs.

Electronic Gadgets Like Apple iPod - A Boon or Bane
By Chris Jensen

It has become a necessity. But like everything in universe, electronic gadgets too have two sides to them. I am a house wife. I remember very clearly that evening when my husband came home, beaming from ear to ear. He had got a hefty refund on filing his income tax return. And my first reaction was - buy me a washing machine. And I was on cloud nine when my first ever washing machine was delivered. Because I must confess that I hate washing even a small hanky with hands.

Over the years I surrounded myself with various electronic gadgets. Latest models replaced old ones. I had the same excuse every time that this one works better. Microwave, toaster, griller, refrigerator, vacuum cleaners, dishwasher, geyser, air conditioner, and room warmer the list is endless. No household today is complete without these.

They are no longer considered luxuries. They make our life easy. It was ok when mistress of the house stayed back and looked after the house. But today 99% of women are working. They have to balance both home and office. These gadgets are any home maker’s friends. Electronic gadgets have brought entertainment right inside our living rooms. Today we could see the majestic full solar eclipse taking place in Kabul while sitting in India.

Television and Internet has brought the world together. We all are citizens of a large global village. Computers and laptops are now part of commercial life at all levels. Corporate offices, business houses, railways, banks, post offices are dependent on computers. Work, which used to take hours to complete are just done with a click of mouse. And you can carry your office with you where ever you go that is if your spouse has no objection.

Cell phones, iPod, digital cameras, the list is endless. Technology has made our life comfortable rather too comfortable. And this is a cause of concern. No I have nothing against electronic gadgets. I am against our dependency on these gadgets. We fail to perform in their absence. They are meant to serve us and not to rule us.

Today we can watch solar eclipse taking place in Kabul, but fail to hear cries of distress in our neighborhood. Our children are turning computer savvy, but they have not experienced the simple pleasure of climbing up a tree. We have become so used to of air conditioners that breathing in fresh air makes us sick.

This dependency is making us physically sick. See the obesity rate in the world all over, especially the developed countries. List of diseases are also endless like endless gadgets. Lets not make them our masters.
